Description: This and other very similar representations held by SPRI of these geysers relate to a journey in Iceland made in 1789 by John Thomas Stanley. He produced a sketch which is the basis for these watercolours and print. For his account of the journey see: Transactions of the Royal Society of Edinburgh Vol3, Part 2, 1794 p. 127-53.
