| Note: | Text, on reverse: 'Upernavick ... July 22 ... the most norhterly settlement in the world ... lookind west by south. Characteristics - rocks and boulders, black houses with white window shutters, and dogs. The Governor's house is over the women's heads. The white building with the strong sloping whitewashed stone walls is the store, then comes the church, then the minister's house. We sail for Melville Bay in half hour ... the only sketch taken here'. |
