Carving (a) on base (b): Carving (a) of Sea Goddess (Sedna, Taleelayuk) in black soapstone. She is lying on her stomach leaning on her elbows with her hands on each side of her face. Eyes, nose and mouth are carved on oval-shaped face. She has the tail of a fish. Two metal pegs on rectangular black plastic? base (b) correspond to holes in underside of body and left elbow of Sea Goddess. Green felt glued to bottom of base. Labels glued to carving: circular green paper "T2" between elbows; rectangular white paper "Talluliyuk By Tarulagak" under body; rectangular white paper "No 62" under body near tail. Labels glued to base: circular green paper "T2"; rectangular white paper "No 62" "Tally" [crossed out]; circular orange paper "L". |
