Carving: Polar Bear in grey/green soapstone. Walking with left fore leg in front of right fore leg; left hind leg (with foot in vertical position) is behind right hind leg. Four claws are carved on each foot. Head is turned to the left. Carved with triangular ears (inlaid with white) and tail. Eyes, mouth and nostrils are incised. Square white label "16." glued to underside of belly; circular white paper label "Y" glued to left hind foot. Circular holes on bottom of right front and back feet suggest presence of a base (now missing). |
