Carving: Sea Goddess (Sedna, Taleelayuk) in green serpentine. Side view with body of a fish, human face and bird's beak. Body is curved with flared tail, long curved dorsal fin and three lateral fins all incised. Human face is carved with curved eyebrow, elliptical eye, and ear. Nostril is incised on side of pointed open beak. Two large holes on flat back for suspension. Paper labels glued to back: rectangular black and white "canadian eskimo art" and Igloo label; rectangular white "No. 65"; square white "19.". |
