Full description:

Bladder-float: Made from a whole dehaired seal skin (a). Holes for fore and hind flippers and anus are closed with wrapping of braided sinew. One circular and one elliptical wooden plug are inserted into holes (from harpooning seal -Thalbitzer 1912: 456). Ivory plug (for inflating float) is inserted behind right fore flipper. Loop of partially dehaired seal skin thong is inserted into float beside a large circular wood plug. L-shaped wooden pegs (for fastening the float to the deck of the kayak - Thalbitzer 1912: 457, figure 156) are threaded on dehaired seal skin thong. Dehaired seal skin thong is sewn between the neck and hind flippers (see note).
