Trousers: Man's. Knee-length with back longer than front. Legs are made of polar bear skin with the fur to the exterior. Cuff of same is sewn around straight bottom edge of each leg. Upper is made from overlapping pieces of seal skin (harp seal Phoca groenlandica - typed register entry) with the fur to the exterior. A 37 mm wide waistband of dark brown seal skin with the fur to exterior and interior is attached around upper edge. Centre back of waistband is cut into U-shape edged with strip of dehaired cream seal skin. Thong of same is looped through slits and tied for closure. Rectangular front extension is made from seal skin with the fur to the exterior. Edge of extension is bound with dehaired cream seal skin. Four vertical holes cut along upper edge are reinforced with rectangular pieces of dehaired cream seal skin on the interior and correspond to buttons on waistband. Seven circular metal buttons are sewn to waistband: 5 have inscription "perfekt"; 1 "national*solide*"; 1 plain. 5 are attached with circular metal studs on the interior; 1 is sewn with pink cotton thread; 1 is sewn with black cotton thread through 4 holes and stud. A cream (originally) fabric pocket is sewn to slit in skin on interior of each side. Purple fabric label "712" stapled to interior of front extension. Tear in seal skin repaired with pink thread. Structural sewing is with sinew and cotton thread.
