Full description:

Harness, trace, dog: Harness (a) is made from two wide loops of dehaired dark brown seal skin (fjord - from register entries) folded in half along length to form a double layer. Three cross-straps of same are threaded and tied through slits at right angles. One end of dehaired seal skin thong is tied to end of harness. Opposite end of thong is threaded and spliced through small hole in circular ivory buckle decorated with seven circular depressions around one edge. Trace (b) is made of dehaired dark brown seal skin. One end of trace is threaded and looped through holes in pointed ivory toggle which is inserted through large circular hole in ivory buckle. Opposite end of trace is threaded and spliced through smaller hole at narrow end of tear-drop shaped ivory buckle. Larger hole through buckle at wider end.
