Harness, trace, dog: Harness is made from two loops of dehaired cream seal skin (bearded ? - from typed register). Three cross-straps of same are threaded and tied (see typed register entry) through slits at right angles. End of dehaired seal skin draught-strap is tied to ends of harness. Opposite end of line is threaded and spliced (see Reference note) through smaller hole in oval ivory buckle. End of dehaired seal skin trace is threaded through hole in pointed walrus tusk toggle which is inserted through larger hole in buckle. Opposite end of trace is threaded through circular hole in bone toggle. |
