CarvingRecord: Y: 2009/31Carving. Inuit. No provenance, no date. The syllabics on the side translate as: 'These four rocks piled on top of one another indicate an overnight place on a route. The inland people understand this formation. This formation shows that the meat cache is not far from here.' The inscription on the top of the carving indicates that the pointer is made of wood, with rocks holding the end down. The dialect sounds like South Baffin, i.e. Iqaluit, Kimmirut (formerly Lake Harbour) or Kinngait (Cape Dorset). |
