Captain Æneas Mackintosh arrived in Sydney in November 1914 to take command of Aurora. On arrival he found the ship still in need of extensive work and the stores far short of the original inventory. The letter is from Lipton’s Tea Ltd. who gave a supply of tea for the expedition, in return they requested a publicity photograph of the crew drinking tea in the Antarctic.
