John Lyon School Greenland Expedition Preliminary report Climb and explore glacial peaks, particularly the area of Liverpool Land. Also scientific research re ocean acidification and the subsequent effect on global warming. £800
NW Greenland Climb 2012 Preliminary report To climb new routes in the Agpatsuit mountains SE of Upernavik. £1,250
Timmiarmiut, East Greeland 2012 Preliminary report Climb Skirner Moutnains and Timmiarmiut fjords, utilising packrafts. Also intend to add an educational element by partnering with Education through Expeditions, and connecting UK students with a local Tasiilaq school. £1,750 + £250 Arctic Club award
Arctic 2012 – Tilman again Preliminary report To sail across the Atlantic to the west cost of Greenland, to make first ascents of big walls/sea cliffs in the Upernavik area, and to pioneer first ascents of unclimbed big sea cliffs in Nunavut. To traverse the NW Passage to Alaska, subject to conditioning, recording conditions, social information and navigational data. £1,750 Simpson award

Greenland Expedition 2012 - Eton College Preliminary report To conduct an exploratory mountaineering expedition in E Greenland, climbing a number of unclimbed peaks
To give experience of an arctic wilderness to keen adventure-seeking teenagers

West Lancashire Scouts – East Greenland 2012 Preliminary report To explore and experience both the natural and cultural aspects of E Greenland wilderness on land but predominately by sea – as a recce for a future expedition with Scouts aged 16+

Greenlandic over-winter Expedition 2012   To carry out a marine-based survey of two outlet glaciers and associated fjord in the Unmmannaq district over 2012/13 winter. To help understand the seasonal influences on the mechanisms controlling ice calving and melt and how these relate to the flow of ice sheets. To explore and mountaineer £1,250
Alaska 2012 Expedition: Imperial College Preliminary report Explore rarely visited territories of the Wrangell-St Elias National Park; attempt a number of first ascents; obtain relevant aerial photographic material, using Kite aerial photography. £2,000
