Greenland East Coast Kayak Base | To re establish a Kayak base in Tasilaq. Over the next few years, spend six weeks each summer in Greenland to perform a number of jobs. | £1,500 |
Arctic Voice Expedition 2007-2008 | To undertake a journey through Canada’s Northwest Passage by Kayak from Kugluktuk to Gjoa Haven during which time the team will set up links between schools in the Arctic and schools in the UK and will interview and record the people of the North on their experiences in relation to change. | £1,000 |
Queen Elizabeth II High School Expedition to West Greenland 2008 | To undertake a 10 day sea kayak journey, the first youth group to undertake such an expedition in the area. To undertake a 4 day foot expedition. To continue a project looking at localised global warming by taking samples of dwarf willow to measure annual growth rings. To undertake a 5 day community project. To undertake various sections of Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. To undertake the John Muir Trust Explorer Award. | £1,500 to include £500 from the Edward Wilson Fund. To be the A and J Simpson Expedition 2008 |
Svalbard Summer 2008 | To enable students to gain experience of a remote Arctic environment by conducting science fieldwork projects in an adventurous setting, and travelling throughout the area on foot and possibly deploying to their areas of operation by use of RIBs. | £1,000 |
British 2008 Tasermiut Fjord Expedition | Visit the head of Tasermiut Fjord in Southern Greenland and establish high standard big wall/alpine rock routes on the Cathedral, Minster, Hermenjberg and Tinninertuup peaks. Also explore adjacent valleys to investigate future climbing potential in the surrounding area. | £1,500 |
Greenland Ren Land Expedition | To explore the mountaineering possibilities of this little-visited area. To make Alpine ascents of the major peaks in the areas. To explore the rock climbing possibilities of the same area and establish new routes up to V Diff in standard. | £1,500 to include £500 Arctic Club Award |
